Seg\u00fan un reciente estudio, liderado por la Universidad Federal de Santa Catalina (Brasil), en colaboraci\u00f3n del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cient\u00edficas (CSIC), la mitad del amazonas podr\u00eda sufrir alteraciones irreversibles llevando a este ecosistema a un punto de no retorno.<\/p>\n

Los resultados del trabajo fueron presentados a mediados del mes en la revista\u00a0Nature\u00a0<\/em>y los mismos sugieren que los cambios potenciales dependen principalmente de los siguientes factores: el incremento de la temperatura, la reducci\u00f3n de la de precipitaci\u00f3n y su variabilidad estacional, el alargamiento de las temporadas de sequ\u00eda y los alarmantes niveles de deforestaci\u00f3n.<\/strong> Llegar a sobrepasar los puntos cr\u00edticos de cada uno de estos factores, influidos directamente o indirectamente por el cambio clim\u00e1tico, no solo provocar\u00eda cambios locales y generales en el ecosistema amaz\u00f3nico sino que tambi\u00e9n tendr\u00eda un fuerte impacto en la regulaci\u00f3n clim\u00e1tica del planeta, la biodiversidad y la diversidad cultural.<\/p>\n

\"La<\/p>\n

El informe sit\u00faa al punto de inflexi\u00f3n de la deforestaci\u00f3n en el 20%, estableciendo un l\u00edmite seguro del 10%, aunque el mismo actualmente ha sido superado, siendo este el 13%.<\/p>\n

Con respecto al calentamiento global, el informa se\u00f1ala que el umbral cr\u00edtico es de un aumento de temperatura media de 2\u00baC, siendo 1,5\u00baC el l\u00edmite seguro. En cuanto a las precipitaciones, el umbral cr\u00edtico se encuentra en los 1000 mm anuales con un l\u00edmite seguro en los 1800 mm anuales. As\u00ed tambi\u00e9n los investigadores alertan de que no debe superarse el d\u00e9ficit de 450 litros por metro cuadrado de lluvia al a\u00f1o en periodos de estaci\u00f3n seca, estableciendo un l\u00edmite seguro de 350 litros por metro cuadrado anual.<\/p>\n

Implicancias clim\u00e1ticas y sociales\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Los investigadores resaltan la importancia global de la Amazon\u00eda tanto desde el enfoque de regulador clim\u00e1tico, en el que sus bosques act\u00faan como \u00abrefrigeradores\u00bb del planeta y \u00abbombas de agua\u00bb por un lado y como enormes sumideros de carbono por el otro, como tambi\u00e9n como el hogar de una inmensa diversidad biol\u00f3gica y cultural. La selva amaz\u00f3nica es hogar de aproximadamente 47 millones de personas, en las que 2,2 millones pertenecen a pueblos originarios de unas 400 etnias y culturas diferentes.<\/p>\n

La investigadora Encarnaci\u00f3n Montoya recalc\u00f3 que las comunidades ind\u00edgenas \u00abson los vigilantes, son los que tienen el conocimiento tradicional; viven, conocen y usan de manera sostenible los bosques amaz\u00f3nicos\u00bb por lo que estas deben tener un rol participativo y no pueden quedar fuera de la gesti\u00f3n<\/strong>, teniendo en cuenta la complejidad de la gesti\u00f3n de un territorio comprendido en nueve fronteras geogr\u00e1ficas y nueve gobiernos diferentes.<\/p>\n

Es crucial la implementaci\u00f3n de pol\u00edticas de restauraci\u00f3n y conservaci\u00f3n tanto a nivel local como internacional para lograr mitigar las posibles consecuencias adversas y prevenir la p\u00e9rdida del Amazonas. La investigaci\u00f3n insta a tomar medidas urgentes a nivel gubernamental e intergubernamental para reducir las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero y frenar la sobreexplotaci\u00f3n de recursos. Adem\u00e1s, resalta la importancia de incluir a las comunidades ind\u00edgenas en la toma de decisiones<\/strong> y promover la adopci\u00f3n de pr\u00e1cticas tradicionales de conservaci\u00f3n ya que los territorios gobernados por ellos son muchas veces los mejor conservados.<\/p>\n
