Suele estar en las profundidades y no se acerca a las costas.<\/p>\n<p>Pescadores uruguayos hicieron un\u00a0incre\u00edble hallazgo\u00a0en la costa del balneario\u00a0Jos\u00e9 Ignacio, ubicado a s\u00f3lo 35 minutos de\u00a0Punta del Este, en el municipio de Garz\u00f3n, departamento de Maldonado. Se trata de la\u00a0especie de tortuga m\u00e1s grande del mundo, que no suele aparecer cerca de las playas de ese pa\u00eds y que est\u00e1 en peligro de extinci\u00f3n<\/p>\n<p>El descubrimiento ocurri\u00f3 durante los primeros d\u00edas de enero, aunque reci\u00e9n se supo varias semanas despu\u00e9s de qu\u00e9 animal se trataba. Seg\u00fan precis\u00f3 en di\u00e1logo con la radio local\u00a0FM Gente\u00a0la directora del\u00a0centro de tortugas marinas Karumb\u00e9, Gabriela V\u00e9lez, es la\u00a0tortuga la\u00fad, conocida como siete quillas, cuyo caparaz\u00f3n puede llegar a medir dos metros de largo. Su nombre cient\u00edfico es\u00a0Dermochelys coriacea.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abD\u00edas atr\u00e1s Gonzalo Gil y su compa\u00f1ero Fernando, compart\u00edan con nosotros el video donde se pod\u00eda observar a\u00a0700 metros de la costa en Jos\u00e9 Ignacio, a un enorme ejemplar de tortuga la\u00fad o tambi\u00e9n conocida como siete quillas, su especie est\u00e1 calificada como la m\u00e1s grande del mundo\u00bb, escribieron desde\u00a0FM Gente\u00a0en su cuenta oficial de Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>En tanto, la experta explic\u00f3 que ese animal \u00abes com\u00fan que est\u00e9 en las aguas uruguayas\u00bb, pero en las profundidades, ya que \u00abno se acerca tanto a la costa, como lo hace la tortuga verde\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, se\u00f1al\u00f3 que \u00absu dieta principal son aguavivas y otros organismos gelatinosos\u00bb. Es por eso que \u00abcuando hay medusas en Uruguay, van a aparecer estas tortugas, ya que van detr\u00e1s de ellas\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abEntre enero y mayo es cuando aparecen m\u00e1s a lo largo de toda la costa. Principalmente en la costa atl\u00e1ntica, en los departamentos de Rocha y Maldonado. Tambi\u00e9n a veces es muy com\u00fan verlas dentro del estuario del R\u00edo de la Plata, en busca de aguavivas. Hacia finales del oto\u00f1o se las ve en Montevideo o San Jos\u00e9\u00bb, agreg\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p>Por otro lado, destac\u00f3 que \u00abno son animales agresivos\u00bb. No obstante, recomend\u00f3 a las personas que \u00ables tengan respeto y que no intenten acercarse a esta especie\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Asimismo, advirti\u00f3 que este tipo de tortuga se encuentra distribuida en todo el mundo, aunque \u00abes la que est\u00e1 con mayor problema de conservaci\u00f3n y de amenaza en el mundo\u00bb, es decir en alto peligro de extinci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abEs de las tortugas que se conoce menos.
