Tras el desastre, los cient\u00edficos elaboraron mapas satelitales que muestran con precisi\u00f3n c\u00f3mo se desplaz\u00f3 el terreno, informaci\u00f3n que permitir\u00e1 comprender mejor el origen de los da\u00f1os registrados en la regi\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"561\" data-end=\"957\"><span dir=\"auto\">Los estudios fueron realizados con datos obtenidos por el sat\u00e9lite Radar de Apertura Sint\u00e9tica NASA-ISRO (NISAR), que compar\u00f3 im\u00e1genes captadas antes y despu\u00e9s de los sismos mediante una t\u00e9cnica conocida como interferometr\u00eda de radar. Este m\u00e9todo permite detectar movimientos muy peque\u00f1os del suelo, identificando las \u00e1reas donde la superficie se desplaz\u00f3 hacia el este, el oeste, arriba o abajo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"959\" data-end=\"1373\"><span dir=\"auto\">Los an\u00e1lisis tambi\u00e9n permitieron localizar el punto donde se produjo la ruptura principal de la falla geol\u00f3gica, ubicada en el l\u00edmite entre las placas del Caribe y Sudam\u00e9rica. Los investigadores determinaron que, en algunos sectores cercanos al aeropuerto internacional al norte de Caracas, el terreno lleg\u00f3 a desplazarse hasta 60 cent\u00edmetros, lo que explica la magnitud de los da\u00f1os observados en varias ciudades.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1375\" data-end=\"1833\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><span dir=\"auto\">La informaci\u00f3n obtenida por NISAR fue utilizada por el Servicio Geol\u00f3gico de Estados Unidos (USGS) para mejorar sus modelos sobre el comportamiento de la falla durante el terremoto.
