La investigaci\u00f3n demostr\u00f3 que una tormenta de polvo poco com\u00fan, intensa pero localizada, fue capaz de impulsar grandes cantidades de vapor de agua hacia las capas m\u00e1s altas de la atm\u00f3sfera marciana, favoreciendo su escape al espacio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"468\" data-end=\"845\"><span dir=\"auto\">Actualmente, Marte presenta un paisaje \u00e1rido y des\u00e9rtico, aunque su superficie conserva canales, minerales alterados y otras huellas que indican que en el pasado fue un planeta mucho m\u00e1s h\u00famedo. Comprender c\u00f3mo se perdi\u00f3 ese entorno rico en agua es uno de los principales desaf\u00edos de la ciencia planetaria, y este nuevo hallazgo aporta datos clave para reconstruir ese proceso.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"847\" data-end=\"1318\"><span dir=\"auto\">El estudio fue liderado por el Instituto de Astrof\u00edsica de Andaluc\u00eda (IAA-CSIC) y la Universidad de Tokio, y se centr\u00f3 en una tormenta de polvo registrada durante el verano del hemisferio norte marciano. Contra lo que se cre\u00eda hasta ahora, los investigadores comprobaron que este tipo de eventos tambi\u00e9n puede elevar el vapor de agua hasta alturas de entre 60 y 80 kil\u00f3metros, donde la radiaci\u00f3n solar facilita su da\u00f1o y la posterior fuga del hidr\u00f3geno al espacio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1320\" data-end=\"1755\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><span dir=\"auto\">Seg\u00fan los cient\u00edficos, Marte ha perdido a lo largo de millas de millones de a\u00f1os una cantidad de agua suficiente para cubrir gran parte de su superficie con cientos de metros de profundidad.
