Un estudio reciente, publicado en Frontiers in Marine Science, se\u00f1ala que estos cet\u00e1ceos atacan selectivamente a los tiburones para extraerles el h\u00edgado, un \u00f3rgano rico en grasas y nutrientes esenciales para las orcas.<\/p>\n<p>La disminuci\u00f3n de tiburones blancos ha provocado un desbalance en la cadena tr\u00f3fica marina. Neil Hammerschlag, ec\u00f3logo marino, explic\u00f3 que la ausencia de este depredador tope ha favorecido el aumento descontrolado de especies como las focas de piel del Cabo y los tiburones de siete branquias. Estas especies, sin la presi\u00f3n de los tiburones blancos, han proliferado r\u00e1pidamente.<\/p>\n<p>Esta nueva din\u00e1mica est\u00e1 generando efectos en cascada: las focas consumen grandes cantidades de peces peque\u00f1os, lo que reduce la biodiversidad y altera la pesca local, mientras que los tiburones de siete branquias compiten por recursos similares, exacerbando la situaci\u00f3n.
